WW2 Military Furniture Made From Re-purposed Surplus

I am a huge fan of clean, striking ‘manly’ design- Ikea may do clean and modern well, but mixing the style with a more unique aesthetic takes more work than making a fifty cent hot dog run. If you’re a guy who enjoys simple, rugged looks that are anything but ordinary, you’ll likely love this WW2 military furniture by Stephen Kenn. These pieces are created from surplus war era fabrics; pairing them with custom leather straps and webbing belts makes for a look that will have any military buff dying to get their hands on a set.

Re-purposed Surplus WW2 Military Furniture – Canvas Never Looked So Good

You don’t have to be a war historian to love the looks of these pieces. The silver rivets and burnished metal give a finished look to the worn fabric, and the results are manly and loaded with a sense of history, without being old or stifling. The name of the project is The Inheritance Collection, and pricing ranges anywhere from $450 to upwards of $5500; it wouldn’t be cheap to outfit your living room, but I’m glad to see that these aren’t just installations. How often is it that you find something unbelievably cool and quality that you want to put it in your house, only to find out that it’s one of a kind because it’s made of unicorn vomit and Christian Bale’s tears and 17% of the creator’s soul?

Here’s a video talking more about the re-purposed nature of the WW2 military furniture- I’m not sure how I feel about it. On one hand, it gives a phenomenal view of the pieces in real life, in an awesome living space. On the other, even though absolutely everything in the video is awesome and I want it, there’s something about it just toeing the line of douchey. Maybe it’s the music. Regardless- watch this for more info about the design and the process behind the collection, or scroll down and check out more of the furniture.

You can browse- and purchase!- pieces of The Inheritance Collection at Stephen Kenn’s website. Got a military theme going  in your man cave?  Let me see! I would have never thought it would be my thing, but I think this has officially convinced me that olive drab’s my colour.

Author, Designer, and "that girl your mother warned you about." Looking good seems to be my job, whether it's working with the site design, or a number of other more interesting capacities. I have a ridiculous sense of humour and a brutal sense of honesty- you'll see a lot of that coming through in my writing, so don't say I didn't warn you if I somehow manage to offend you AND hurt your feelings at the same time. On the plus side, it makes my dating and advice columns a lot more pertinent to an unfinished man in the real world.
