Year of the Dragon Jeep Wrangler Concept

2012 is the year of the dragon according to the Chinese lunar calendar and the dragon is the most popular “animal” of the twelve animals that represent the lunar years.  Because of the popularity of the dragon and the rising economic power of China, we saw lots of dragon-themed items from gold and silver coins, watches, even automobiles and everything in between but I never expected a “Year of the Dragon Jeep Wrangler”!

The concept Year of the Dragon Wrangler is made specifically for the China and will be showcased at the Beijing Motor Show later this month, we’re not sure if Chrysler has plans for making a special edition production model for the Chinese market.  The design is questionable at best and it reminds of the Pontiac Firebird with a Phoenix or whatever that bird is, on the hood.

Concept Jeep Wrangler Dragon

The first thing you’ll notice is the big-ass dragon (decal) on the hood that slithers around the driver side door.  Under the hood is another dragon staring at you but this one is finished in gold.  I think the outside dragon should’ve been finished in gold for maximum “bling-effect”.

The Year of the Dragon Jeep Wrangler is finished in black paint and there is lots of gold trim on the vehicle with black and gold wheels, gold trim around the LED light housing, grill inserts, and gold lettering on the front fenders that either says “Jeep” or “Dragon”.   The interior also gets some gold highlights on the steering wheel, door panels, the passenger grab-bar on the dashboard, and the rings around the gauges.
